Renewable Energy To Light Up The Nation

“HYDRO POWER PLANT FOR ALL PEOPLE IN BANTEN VILLAGE’S”

 a.      Abstract

Along with the development of villagers in the region of south Banten, more need electricity energy as the main needs. However, the availability of electricity to light up villages in Banten area is still deficits, so its must have something that can generate electricity with low cost and long lifetime. The solution is a power plant with renewable energy.

There are several kinds of renewable energy such as wind, water, solar, geothermal, etc. For the easiest implementation is a hydroelectric power plant. Where the hydropower is divided into some types, namely micro-hydro, mini-hydro, and hydropower. The most suitable plant to be developed in the remote areas of the Hydro Micro Power Plant.

Government has been committed for power avaibility realization of 35.000 MW in 5 years (2014-2019). The government proclaimed that the availability of electricity should be evenly distributed to all banten areas, now the government planning the hydropower project in areas where electricity is still down or deficits.

This is the following of Existing Renewable Powerplant in PLN South Banten Unit.

Powerplant

b.      Issues Background

-          Bad Voltage Quality at the end feeder that can make damage the customer’s electronics.

-          The minor villagers who haven’t electricity

-          Problem of Power Losses at System Network

c.       Destination

-          To solve the voltage drop problem in some feeder

-          To decrease losses at electricity systems

-          To increase the power avaibility in South Banten

d.      Discussion

Hydro-power plant is mostly built especially in village areas. It economically and more advantages if implemented in a location that has a good waterfall, the civil building can be simple and more cheap, and then the electromechanical part is made automatically so that the cost of operator is cheap.

In the areas where has a network of power companies for example PLN, it can be paralleled with the existing power grids.

Fish Bone Diagram

From the fish bone chart, there are 3 reason why we must development the powerplant:

-          Long distance from substation, the villager customer that far from substation can’t connect their livehouse with electricity because if they connect with far substation, it can make their electronics hardware will be damage and the cost for connecting the electricity is expensive.

-          Power Quality. If we development powerplant, it can make the Power Quality of PLN’s electricity better. And the customer will not meet the “blackout” name.

-          The Voltage Drop. In the PLN case. The voltage drop in the end of  feeder can make our hardware component in network will be not working optimally. So that if the voltage already matching with standard voltage regulation, our component in network system will safe.

Beside of that we must observe the cost and life time of the powerplant that the powerplant can distribute electricity to the customer well.

With the development new renewable powerplant at South Banten will make some impact, there are:

1.  We can distribute the electricity power to the customer at the village where far from substation

2.   Fix the Voltage and Power Quality at our feeder, so that the power quality suitable with standard regulation

e.       Conclusion

With the development of renewable Powerplant is expected to help solve the following problems:

-   The availability of electricity supplies to isolated area so that the people living in the countryside can enjoy the electricity.

-  Fixed the drop voltage on the end of feeder so that the quality of the voltage reaching the customer according with the standard regulation
